Evening all

So Discovery cove...... I have always fancied this ever since it opened but as the kids were small i have never done it.

When we go over in the summer 2010 K will be 6 so i think he is old enough, is he?

Is it worth doing and if so how far do i have to book?

Cheers

It is soooooo worth it.... Kyle did it when he was 6 (well 5 .. we had to lie) what a day. It is a chiling day of nothing but sun, food and dolphins....

Best experiences I have ever had, plus you get tickets to your favourite park Seaworld. (dont shout or swear this is a family board!)LOL

I agree with Juz, We did it last year and it was the best decision I ever made, granted thou I had no little ones with me, just me and the other half. But it was FANTASTIC.

You get there check in, pick your swim time, then your free just to wonder the park. We went and had breakfast and as Juz said all food and drink are included, got our swim vests (or you can have full suits) then sat on the beach for an hour relaxing, it was then swim time. Your told to meet in one of the three Cabanas, where your told all about the health and saftey and watch a video all about the dolphins it lasts about 10 mins. The encounter is incredible and I felt so close to these gorgeous creatures from memory we were in a group of 9, Me and Aron then a family from Liverpool who were lovely!! they had a little one with them she looked around 6 and she had a fantastic time.

After the swim you are slightly given the hard sell for the photo package I thought, not sure your views on that Juz, then after swim we went to lunch, Food was top notch and you could eat all you wanted, after another hour on the beach we went for a swim on thier version of a lazy river but let me warn you now its not very lazy and is quite strong in someplaces!!, halfway round you stop off and feed the birds in the avery which was lovely!

We then went and swam in the lagoon with all the fish which is VERY VERY deep in some places and at first we were both quite scared but got used to it, some fish in there ARE HUGE again scary at first but they leave you well alone.

After that we went for a snack of pretzel Aron had beer and I had Serria Mist (Sprite) Then we went for a dip in the ray pool which I found to be a very werid experience.

After one more round of the not so lazy river it was time to shower and change, again they provide EVERYTHING shampoo, conditioner, Shower gel, towels etc etc

Then a quick snack before we went and a look at a couple of cuddly mammals they had with some trainers for a stroke and cuddle then back to hotel :-(

Is really worth doing and would reccomend to anyone!

We spent our wedding anniversary at D.C. on 17th November and had a wonderful time. Myself and my daughter (age 6) did the swim and they allowed my husband and other daughter (age 3) to go into the water at the end of our swim so they could have a couple of minutes with the dolphin and have some photos taken with them.

As it was our anniversary I did splash out on the package which included a private cabana, champagne, chocolates, photos, DVD of swim and the dolphin presented us with a buoy saying happy anniversary.

It was a fab day - we were there for about 8.30am and got a 10.50am swim. We had a great breakfast and lunch - i can highly recommend it!

ive done this twice now and cant wait for the 3rd time, my 7 year old daughter missed out on the first time as she was only 5, but would not pass for a 6 year old as she is very small, so we did it in Oct 09 and she loved every minute of it, so did eye just seeing the big cheezy grin on her face, so of course we had to buy the pictures and video,

we will be doing it again in Sept 2011, but not in May 2010 as we are only doing a villa chill and disney parks, but lets just see what happens, Fingers X,

I think as long as they are fairly confident in the water then they should be fine. My other half took his little sister when she was 6/7 and she absolutely loved it. (Mind you this is a girl who sobbed her heart out because she couldn't ride Gwazi as she was too little!) She still remembers every minute of it now and she's 17. I loved Discovery Cove. It really was an amazing day and one I'll never forget. I have loved dolphins since I was little anyway and the whole thing was just an amazing, moving experience. I really cant wait to be able to take my children as I'm sure it will be fantastic to see their faces :)
If you can dream it - you can do it!
