Hi All

There is a Thread on another forum Talking about Universal from Yesteryear the main thing seems to be bates motel and house and the walk down to the old hard Rock Cafe, I also remeber a Tram Tour around the park i think this was around 1990-1991. I do think the park was much better back then when you could "ride the movies"

What do you guys remember from back then?

I remember the old Bates Motel and the Psycho house on the hill. I still can't believe they got ride of Congfruntation, that was an awesome ride. I always remember the Murder She Wrote Mystery Theatre too. I'm pretty sure my brother went up to help. He ended up with the Thunder board.

Te one thing I really wish they would bring back is the Nickelodeon Studios Tour. They used to film episode of shows there. I think most of Clarissa Explains it all was filmed there. I was chosen to be the kid who had to taste the gunk. Green and tasted of Strawberries.

I think the Rocketeer and Dick Tracy stuff was at MGM Studios. They had the Rocketeer props as part of the old Backlot Tour and MGM also had a Dick Tracy show.

There was a Ghostbusters show too, I think it may have been were Earthquake is but not sure.  The old Hard Rock Cafe is still there, used as something for the employees and can be seen in the Hard Rock Hotel car park.

I can remember seeing Earthquake and Ghostbusters so don't think they were in the same place. Ghostbusters was on the left past where Twister is now but before the painted backdrops would that be where The Mummy ride is now? Anyway i remember the Ghostbusters car and actors/doubles walking around. In fact i have video of it somewhere.

Ghostbusters was excellent - My sister was chosen to be slimed!  Shame the nic' studio tour has gone, I really enjoyed it.  I met famous (to old farts like me) 70's comedian Freddie "parrotface" davies outside it!

I loved the ghostbusters show.  They used like a big giant glass screen effect (Peppers Ghost?) to somehow project images of the ghosts and the lasrs from their guns.  I guess the live actors just must have had to be at the right spot on the stage at the right time for the effect to work.

I also seem to recall it had a funny live pre-show too?

I think it used to be in the mummy building?  The ghostbusters also used to come out in their ghostbuster 'mobile' and do street performances, a bit like the Blues Brothers do now

link to the full show below

The old hard rock building is behind the Curious George area, and the entance to it is very well overgrown with trees and bushes.  It looks very small compared to the huge cafe at City Walk

You can see in the pic below that the steps leading into it are all over grown
